Aug. 9 8730 ft., 1.2 mi. SSW mt. Rose, Washoe Co., Nev. - about
5 seen on a similar coverage to those of June 27
July 12 (q.v.).
Aug. 10 Ice Lakes, 6900 ft., Placer Co., Calif. - about 20 en-
countered in 1 1/4 hrs spent in late am. in lodge.
pole pine - red fir forest on strong "flats" NE of lake.
Aug. 11 7100 ft., 1/3 to 2/3 mi. 5 Donner Pass, Placer Co., Calif.
about 20 in 1 1/2 hrs. in a somewhat more patchy,
but similar forest. These two records indicate
some flocking of Chickadees, which were
mixed
in 2 or 3 "aggregations" of various
other small birds.
Aug. 18 Sugar Bowl Lodge, 7000 ft., 1.2 mi. SSW Donner Pass,
Placer Co., Calif. - about 20 in 1/8 mi. Traverse
of red fir - lodgepole & silver pine forest (in pm).
Aug. 24 Ice Lakes [area NE of Oulgera L], 6900 ft., Placer Co.
Calif. - an estimated 50 encountered in 1 hr.
same time & day
25 min. spent in same area, as on Aug. 10 (q.v).
Aug. 25 same area as on Aug. 11 - about 30 encountered
on similar coverage.
These last two records
were of birds mixed
with Audubon & other warblers, both
Nuthatches [White br. & Red br.] & a few other
small birds.
