Cogswell 1949 Cutaneus townsendi 3 Sep 9 (1 mi. N) Red Mt. 5500 ft. 15 mi. S Hayford Trinity Co. Calif. I collected one from the top of a 5 ft. high stump to which it had just run after scolding my approach with and expressive "chip- chip-I-dl-churr -chur-chur" -- lower pitched than the similar note of C. amoenus. The area is a flat about 2 acres in extent, covered with open pine forest and marganita & canotles shrubs (see Journal).
