S Hayford, Trinity Co, Calif one came up on top of a rock to set in the midst of a large clump of buckberry oak (near a few scattered manzanita shrubs) to watch me as I put the mountain Quail I had just shot in a core. As I started toward the squirrel it ran down into the bushes, but a squeak brought it back up & I collected it. Its cheek pouches contained about 50 small bulbs, a few of which were saved.
