Cogswell 1949 Chondestes strigatus Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. Aug. 14 about 4:45 p.m. I flushed one from grassy area (grazed) among thistles of the pasture just N. of Maple Creek near camp. It flew to perch in a bush, then on to two successive others. I shot at it on one, but missed. The white tail-feather tips were conspicuous in flight. It uttered no call note during my observation.
