Spruce-Alder, or Alder-Willow habitats.
None were heard singing.
Aug. 19-25 French Camp, 3100 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. - 1 or 2
noted on each of 4 days during this period — all
of them at the border of a small grassy brush
area surrounded by Douglas Fir - Incense
Cedar - Tan Oak - Chinquapin forest. None were
seen repeatedly in any one area, nor were any
heard singing — hence they may have been
migrants.
Aug. 27 3 mi. N Willow Creek, 700 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. - 3
heard calling in Tan Oak-Madrone-Douglas Fir
forest in Coon Creek Canyon.

1 or 2 seen or heard daily in woodland, deciduous shrub, brush thickets in valley
of Trinity River. They, with other species,
were obviously attracted by the many
berries available here (Rubus recurvans,
Rhamnus californicus, Prunus demissa, etc.)
