Cogswell 1949 Wilsonia pusilla 2 Sep. 4 Brannan mtn., 3700 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. I heard calling (its characteristic nasal "trump" of this species) from understory shrubs on N-facing slope in open pine forest [see journal for description]. Sep 6-9 Red mtn ridge, 2 to 3 mi. NNW of the peak, 5300- 5500 ft., 14* 13 mi. S Hayford Trinity Co., Calif. 1 or 2 noted on each of these days. They were all encountered in shrubland bordering mixed pine & white fir forests near the top of a ridge. No song heard here; these individuals seen behaved like migrants.
