Wilsonia pusilla

Sep. 4 Brannan mtn., 3700 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif.
I heard calling (its characteristic nasal
"trump" of this species) from understory shrubs
on N-facing slope in open pine forest [see
journal for description].
Sep 6-9 Red mtn ridge, 2 to 3 mi. NNW of the peak, 5300-
5500 ft., 14* 13 mi. S Hayford Trinity Co., Calif.
1 or 2 noted on each of these days. They were
all encountered in shrubland bordering
mixed pine & white fir forests near the
top of a ridge. No song heard here;
these individuals seen behaved like migrants.
