Cogsweil 1949 Regulus satrapa Aug.8-19 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. Common in Redwood forest and in mixed conifers of other kinds. A few were seen in Spruce Alder forest in the valley of Maple Creek and 3+ seen in Alder-Maple-Spruce wet forest. Many of those seen were juveniles, probably accompanied by adults. Songs were heard on Aug.9 to 11. Aug.20-26 French Camp, 3100 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. Several were heard daily in its Douglas fir forest with Tan oak & Chinquapin admixed. Aug.28 Horse Lints Creek Canyon, 4 ¼ mi. N and 1 ½ mi. E Willow Creek, 800 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. - 2 seen in Douglas fir forest. Aug.28 Aug.29 "Coon Creek" canyon, 3 mi. N Willow Creek, 700-800 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. 2 + 1, respectively, heard (1 seen) in Douglas fir-Tan oak-madrone-black oak forest. No others were noted near this camp during our 9 days there (Aug.27-Sep.4) Sep.1 Three Creek Road, South slope Bramen Mtn. near Willow Creek, 1500-3500 ft. - A few (5+) heard at scattered points along the road - in Douglas fir-Tan oak forest. Sep.6-10 Red Mtn. - & Dubabella Mtn. ridge, 5200-5600 ft., 15-13 mi. S Hayfork, Trinity Co., Calif. Noted regularly in small numbers in White fir-Snow's Cedar-Jeffrey's Sugar Pine forests on N-facing slopes or in canyons (where some Douglas fir also present) not more than 5 at once.
