From the lookout tower here this p.m. 5 cows
be seen (1 ad. F, several fledglings + ? ?)
perching on radio antenna towers or flying
down after insects.
Aug. 22 1 mi. NW Schoolhouse Peak, 2300 ft., Humboldt Co.,
Calif. 5 were seen perched in lead top of tall
Douglas Fir at border of narrow strip of oak
woodland at lower edge of large prairie.
Sep. 9 (2 mi. NNW) Red Mtn., 5400 ft., 14 ½ mi. S Hayfork, Trinity
Co., Calif. A bright ♂ and 1 dull plumaged bird
flew together from the large open "bald"
bordered by shrubland on its ridge top here.
