Psaltriparus minimus
aug. 9-19 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. - a small flock (5+ birds) frequented the edge of the spruce-alder forest and bordering Rubus thickets near our camp site ½ mi. inland from the S.E. end of its lagoon. also flock seen in "disposal"
aug. 30 ½ mi. N Willow Creek, 500 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif.
a flock of 15-20, composed mostly of short-tailed young birds, was seen in the manzanita-oak - madrone - shrubland along the roadside.
Sep. 3 Brannan Mtn, 3900 ft. Humboldt Co., Calif. - Distinct bush-tit call notes were heard in the tan oak - manzanita brush at the border of open [illegible] pine forest [see journal p.105] on the summit of this mountain, which is clothed with Douglas fir forest around the middle and much of the lower slopes. I was engaged in setting out traps & did not see the birds.
