Corvus corax
Aug. 8-19 Bej Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. Two (usually together) seen or heard on most days. There may have been several groups of 2 in the Maple Creek Valley, but I never noted more than that number together. They perched in taller, usually dead-topped trees in all the forest habitats, & were observed on the ground along the stream near the marsh & on the sandy beach.
Aug. 19 2 1/4 mi. N.W Schoolhouse Peak, 3300 ft. Humboldt Co. Calif.
a flock estimated at 60-75 individuals was gathered by sheep in the Manozes Ranch in [illegible] p.m.
Aug. 22 none seen at this spot about 9:00 a.m., but 9 flew over later in a.m. and 1 (nearer the peak) about 11:00 a.m. All of these were in over grazed, dry grassland of the "Bald Hills"; but they apparently range into it from the Redwood-Douglas Fir forest on either side.
