Cogswell 1949 Chordeiles minor Aug. 9-18 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. 1 or 2 flew over our camp, ½ mile up Maple Creek valley from the lagoon, on several dates, in the early morning hours and once at dusk. "Spec(n)t" calls were heard from some of them. I saw no diving or "booming", but Mullion reported that he did. Aug. 25 French Camp, 3100 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. Dr Pearson reported seeing 3 this morning. At sunset bright one was flying erratically over the canyon to the NW of French Camp Ridge, and at about 7:10 - 7:15 p.m. two flew, separately, over camp from NW & SE, then I going in a fairly direct course. All were too high for shotgun range. No calls were heard.
