Cogswell 1949 otus asio 2 (2 1/2 mi. NNW) Red Mtn., 5300 ft., 14 mi. S Hayfork, Trinity Co., Calif. Sep. 7 - 1 a.m. - (See journal account of observation of what was probably an individual of that sp.) Sep. 8 In the early evening, but well after dark, one was calling the regular tremolo call of this species from the cedar-fir trees of our camp ground. It became silent (or left the area?) when I tried to go closer to it.
