Tringa solitaria
aug. 19 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. a single shorebird, of slender build & of [illegible] approximately the size of this species flew over our camp (½ mile from S.E. end of lagoon with its fresh-water marsh) uttering a high “peet-weet” call at intervals. I have heard this call several times from this species, and although I at first thought it was likely a [illegible] flavipes; but upon further consideration I remember that the call of that species is more whistled and of [illegible] somewhat lower pitch. Resultant identification as this species (T. solitaria) is therefore tentatively made.
