Cogswell 1949 aug.13 Squatarola squatarola Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. A flock of 10+ large, gray shorebirds with the build of a plover were seen flying with the Pintail ducks I had just previously scared up. Although I did not see them closely enough to see the bill or the black axillars, I feel sure they were of this species.
