S. Dubabella Mtn, 3500 ft., 12 mi. S Hayfork, Trinity Co., Calif. A large (? ?) immature-plumaged bird flew low over the summit & perched in dead top of a white fir at border of forest 100 yards down the steep N-facing slope. It preened for a while and flew off to the N., low over the ground, when I tried to approach it.
