Cognwell 1949 Anas carolinensis Aug. 16 S.E. end of Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. I observed. It flew in and alighted before the Pintails which I had flushed from the flats 10 min. before. Aug. 31 Willow Creek, 400 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif. 3 indi- vividuals, 2 of them apparently SB coming out of ?? edgewise plumage, were flushed from the Trinity River here. They flew to a calm, shallow portion near meeting point of a gravel bank and a high earthen one with bushes along it. Over 1 hr. later they were still there.
