Cogswell 1949 Ardea herodias Aug.8-19 Big Lagoon, Humboldt Co., Calif. a few (not over 5) were seen or heard regularly both about the shores of the lagoon (pebbly beach and cordweed flats) and along maple creek and the log pond. Aug.28 Trinity River, 1/2 mi. N Willow Creek, 400 ft. Humboldt Co. Calif 1:40 p.m. one, in adult (white, black head) plumage, flew up from gravel bank along a calm stretch of its river. Sep.3 one seen along bank of stream near same locality.
