After the above stop we drove down the road

Branner Mtn. - 3700 ft., Humboldt Co., Calif.
Bullion, I drove here in the Chevrolet from
Willow Creek to spend the night in the open
pine forest we visited 2 days ago. Left Willow
Creek at 3:30 and arrived on the summit at
4:10, with 1 stop of about 5 minutes enroute.
The road distance is 8.8 miles, the first 5.5+
(three creeks Road) well travelled, the rest (on
Branner Mtn Road) narrow & bumpy & rocky
in spots. Saw 15+ Band-tailed Pigeons and 1 Coyote
along the road on the way up.
We set out traps - I placed 3 Schuylers
& 3 rat traps for chipmunks & Wood Rats
& put 10 mouse traps on the south slope just
below the summit (3900+ ft.) and 20 at the
3700-3600 ft. level near where we are sleeping.
Owling at dusk yielded 2 Pygmy Owls heard.
