FIELD NOTES

June 24, 1987
Today is sunny, warm, very strong NW winds. About 3 good Glaucous-winged Gulls seen in Tillamook Bay (Lincoln Co., Oregon) near Garibaldi harbor. Two adult Glaucous-winged Gulls and several sub-adults near Wheeler, on Nehalem Bay. 2 other GWG's seen flying along the bay here (15:00). 15:30 - at the 2 offshore rocks about 1 mi. S of Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach counted 49 WG's and 14 WG's on each rock, respectively. The lighting is bad, but they all look like good WG's. Many nests have large (2-3 wks) chicks. 15:50 - 16:35 at Cannon Beach. Surveyed 3 rocks: Haystack + 2 smaller ones just north of it: Haystack Rock: 144 Gulls on eastern & southern side; saw a few 4 light primaries, possibly 2 GWG's. The other 2 smaller rocks had 14 & 13 gulls each.
Of 25 gulls flying, I had light primaries. Rest WG.
Over beach saw 1 GWG ad; couple immns.
