Field Notes Doug Bell Date: May 28, 1987 swallows around. Just north of the cape the landward beach is loaded with at least a 100 Stellar's sea lions. In fact we really nearly stepped on a single animal while walking the beach just south of this. Weather is overcast, but became very calm. Forgot to mention - Brown's Blackbirds, Cliff-Swallows and Vaux's Swifts at Mr. Russ's House. Date: May 29, 1987 Rain during the night and early morning. Cold & misty. Around 9:30 I went out gull shooting. Got 4 birds (DAB 144-147). Unfortunately I lost at least 2 additional birds into the sea that flew out too far before crashing. Shoot! I prepared the birds, at 15:00 we packed up camp (still raining), barely made it out with the car, then headed home.
