WEATHER: clean, sunny, moderate-light wind
TIDE: Low, Rock 1.4M exposed
+4m cement.
9:31 on cistern: 18 birds incubating, 36 gulls on perimeter, 9
on platform. Major stand-off between pairs 22/23.
9:49 Watching pair 11 - 36 gulls on perimeter; 11 on perimeter.
9:54 Incubation heard but not seen. Heard up till now
2 other copulations. 9:57 - 8 of 11 nudging male - to get off
nest. 10:00 AM - Colony. 8/11 had tried to relieve male of incubating
duty - she attempted stroking his back with leg. 10:12 - Pair 28
32 birds on perimeter, 10 on platform. 8 on nest, 5 not around.
10:23 - Colony watching - a 3 yr bird is flying about the
colony. 10:45: 24 birds incubating - 30 on perimeter, 9 on
platform.
13:00 - Video recording gulls on cistern. Got nice sequence of
the male from nest 33 "raping" & sitting on nest 31.
Same later video sequencer may be no good due to
battery problems.
