24 1931 and grosbeaks are still about Thrashers are heard calling and sometimes singing and Vagrants Wheats ring occasionally. Two cats in the neighborhood (possibly three) have disappeared. Weather cool. Sunny afternoons. Wrens Tits sing occasionally - Aug. 12. University Opens. Aug. 15? Jamie's jaw operates on at Alta Bates. Aug. 17. Jamie came home from hospital. Foggy till noon. Aug. 19. No fog but cool. Heard Nuthatch once. Saw Russet Berked Thrush at pool. Heard Blackbirds flying over in early morning. Visited Lake Merritt. Took photos of Pelicans, White Fronted Geese and Snow (Ross?) Geese present (Perinoids?) Hybrid Mallards, 1 Baldpate (wild?)
