May 22 - Beautiful day. Titmouse give encouraging calls, seems to be urging young to fly. House Sparrow sang a few times near nesting box.
May 23. Heard encouraging calls of Titmice about 6:35 a.m. Got up to see if they were flying. Found young bird had its head out and both parents outside calling chickadee, chickadee and peter, peter. At about 9:45 heard encouraging calls again and watched from attic window. Very soon one young bird flew out and another appeared in hole. After more encouraging a second flew across to porch railing where it rested a few minutes then disappeared around north side of house. This more flew, then it was interrupted by the arrival of a registered letter. I think went out on to east porch.
