May 26. Goose dinner - Limforts & Calhouns as guests. May 31 - Warm - Gardening - June 2 - Drove to Boulder Creek, leaving Berkeley about 7 a.m. Had breakfast in Oakland, lunch at Santa Cruz. Reached Boulder Creek about 1:30 p.m. Beautiful, cool weather, too cool at Santa Cruz - warmest at Los Gatos. June 3. Returned to Berkeley in afternoon. Spent most of the time at Boulder Creek on our lot, watering the fruit trees, investigating the new bridge over the river and the road which makes it possible at last to drive on to the lot. Everything looking fine - Agaleas and Speraea in bloom. List of birds seen or heard: Great Horned Owl - on east side of valley - W. Red-tailed Hawk Cabanis(?) Woodpecker - our heart near Redwood Rest Olive-sided Flycatcher - near Joy Camps Black Phoebe " " " W. Wood Peewees - many - (1 on our lot) W. Flycatcher - " " " " Ash-throated Flycatcher - near Redwood Rest Allen Hummingbird - one Caly Jay - on our lot Coast Jay
