At 5:30 discovered a fire running on this 40 acre ranch.
All went to fight it with wet rakes, shovels etc-
Worked till 9 p.m. About 8 p.m. I went to Glencoe for help.
Men loathe to come - Finally got one man to come
with me and two more turned up as we left at 9 p.m.
Sunday May 23 - Showers - chilly - Rested, read dinner
with Seymours at 5 C.M. - Turkey.
May 24. Left about 9 a.m. Mrs. S. gave us a goose,
eldeberry jelly, eggs to take home - Returned via
Railroad Flat, Mt. Ranch, San Andreas, Stockton, Tracy,
Livermore, Dublin Canyon. Cold - Mr. Tangers at ranch -
just arrived - Now heard before - Mr. Mt. Ranch saw Slender-billed
