April 24 Grosbeaks heard constantly - Titmice have left box - Quail came at 6:30 - fed at 7:30; 12-15 of them. Very warm - Heard Mourning Dove repeatedly about 6 a.m. Apr. 25 Warm. Cedar Waxwings on campus on College Ave. After 29 Family of Bushtits in Walnut garden. Heared Clai-sides Flycatcher in dale. Apr. 30 Went with ladies to Mr Blake's garden. Spent 9:30 to 11:30 looking at plants and birds. Lattes includes: Meadowlark, Sparrow Hawk, Redtailed Hawk, Quail, Calif. Jay, Allen Hummer, Anna Hummer, Purple Finch, Linnnet, Eng. Sparrows Green-b. Goldfinch, Pine Siskin, Song Sparrows, Lazuli Brom Toukey, Spotted Tonkee. Painting clutesant Warbler, Paleolates Warbler, Virginia Vren, Bushtits, Wormtito, a few Swallows. At 11:30 Mrs. J-B- served coffee and sandwiches and I showed specimens made of cookie dough to which they had to match nonceuse jingles describing the birds. Eng. Sp. were building Apr. 31 under the tile on its roofs. A linnnet whose nest in a small Italian in Cypress has been disturbed was building in a lantern containing an electric light in the door way. Cool, cloudy- May 1- Foggy, cool - 7-10 quail still come for seeds. Titmice warbler not heard any more. Thrasher, robin, grosbeak singing. May 2. Drove by San Pablo Dam to Lafayette and toward Maragua to find a good birding spot for next Friday - Could find none to equal the one where we have gone for years. Heard only one Oriole, a few Grosbeaks and no Lazuli Bunting or Chat.
