Aug. 6. Berkeley. A family of Hutton Vireo near house. No Western Flycatchers about.
Song Spar., Brown and Spotted Towhees came for food.
Aug. 7. Lutescent Warblers sing occasionally.
Aug. 8. Walked up Strawberry Canyon to the tobacco fields in the Botanical Gardens at the head. Heard or saw the following birds:
W. Tanager - near house.
Black-headed Grosbeaks - many, some with young. Cicadalis.. - some.
Mourning Doves - a pr. in botanical gardens.
Larkspurt - a few
Javelina heard once.
W. Red-tailed Hawk (2)
Many Anna Hummingbirds
Few Allen Hummingbirds
Many Calliope Hummingbird?
Red-shafted Flickers - many.
Black Phoebe - 1
Calif. Jay - many
Coast Jay - in upper canyon.
Bushtits - flocks.
Wren-tits - ab.
Vigors Wren - ab.
House Wren - 1
Calif. Thrasher - in upper canyon.
Russet-backed Thrush - many.
Lutescent Warblers - many.
Dunn's Warbler - a few
Calif. Purple Finch - many
Green-backed Goldfinch - in bot. yard.
Spotted Towhee
