"Kept together in two large bunches into which the cow boys ride and pick out the desired cattle and drive it to a bunch forming between the other two bunches. Gave Cornell $10" on account for pictures. Our camp is at Mr. Hills crossing of the Laramie River tree in vicinity and very little to distinguish the geology of the Laramie Plains. We are 20 miles from Fort Carson and about 60 by miles from the U.P.R.R. Aug 26-99 Saturday Camp XVII & XVIII. Broke camp and left at 8 A.M. The first thing to do was to cross the Laramie River which all the way men died without trouble except the one Squaw. One of our horses balked and got that the wheels back in the sand and then the horse lay tail down into the river. Our last resort was to change horse in the river and be pulled over. Prof Knight and Mr. Trahy on transter did this by going into the river. About noon Mr. Ross shot a badger and we had to dig him out of his hole.
