Thursday, May 10.
Delayed starting until noon
that I might get a meridian
altitude for latitude.
Temp. + 1.5 F at noon.
Tonight at midnight it is -14.2 F.
A hard day. Have been revolving
through crag on crag rises
for nine hours. We hunted in
vain for better open reading
of slabs then in, but finding
it all the same.
Have decided to go south
over a glacier leading into
South side Cabogan Inlet.
To night we are encamped
near a large berg but a
short distance from face of
glacier.
Have taken midnight
altitude 2 am and am now
snapping two cameras at fifteen
minute intervals as the sun
as it rolls along over the hills.
Cold for this time of year.
