A mixture of a good and
a bad day.
Starting out last night rough ice turned us south nearly to Cocked Hat Island where we waded east through deep snow - E shot a seal which slowed up our dogs after they had each gulped three or four pounds of fat.
Finally we struck excellent ice apparently extending all the way across Smith Sound but as we untangled our braces we could hear the wash of waves. Sure enough, we soon saw open water which turned us due north nearly to Victoria Head! Back where
