10<sup>th</sup> 30<sup>th</sup> P.M. A hard ascent up out of river valley doing the first mile in two hours. We are now across the old lake bed and fairly on the back of the Ellesmere Land Glacier. Which for confels us to camp. We had lost trail and can see no land- marks. at- 6 P.M. Temp +25 Thursday May 11 5<sup>th</sup> day Breakfast at- 9-30. Sun out- good weather. 10-30 Temp. 24.5+ 10 P.M. Lost in the fog again and in camp on glacier. It was cleared up several times today but now thick as mud. We have followed an old trail all day nearly to the place of descent. Just now wait- until morning. At highest point the barometer read 24.24. Snow.
