I feel as if I had lost a friend. — De-senal was left at the last igloo dying. I tried to teach him with a pot full of hot tea soup, but the poor fellow turned his head away, staggered to the sunny side of the igloo, curled himself up, and was to sleep when I left. He is now where there are no sledges, nor long, long trails, nor cruel whips. He is the only dog I have ever lost on a trip. His death makes me think more of the others. Brindle was sick all cay yesterday, but pulling well today. Dirty face will today but better tonight, Long. 100° W Stale " 72/40 Dif " 27 20 H 4 60 | 10 & 60 | 80 1s 48m + 1m 20s Dif in Time 1s 49m 20s
