field glasses saw the beasts in full flight for North Cornwall. Startled, we threw off everything from our sledges and started. It was the longest, fastest ride I have ever had – at least 3 1/2 miles, bounding from ridge to ridge. Before we were ready, Meary's wolf dogs ran away, breaking off the court and she after them yelling for them to stop. She rejoined us when about half way out. During this run she noticed salmon and bear tracks – a good test of good eyes! Far ahead of us we could see the mother and two little black cubs. By her side which we could see to be cubs. The mother turned twice as if to stand and fight but 42 dogs galloping toward her called her courage to fail. about ten more dogs
