caught the very devil coming down to "Searies Pond" a strong Easterly wind and chill made it rather uncomfortable for man and beast. Our clothes were driven full of "flour snow". As we tried to proceed freely going up we were all pretty cold at the pond. Here we made tea in the open at 24 below zero and waited for Panelfield. The children amused themselves by cutting out figures of animals & birds which were remarkably good. He gave my Panelfield and were about to start on when he came over the crest of the hill.
