Dr. Kane Arrived Littleton Island on Aug. 1st. Cafe Hatteras last of Capt. Inglefields portively- determined Deadlands. Left cable and metallic life boat in Life Boat Cove. Built cairn on western cape of Littleton Island, called Flagstaff Point. Looks Refuge or "a beautiful Cove" just north of Cairn Point, "a desirable Landy from the World." "For Inlet" later called, Refuge Harbor. At at point about one mile North he erected a small beacon cairn and burnt a K with powder on the rock. Wrote A.K. with a pointed bullet on his cap, doing and crossed it as a flag. Harbor is in between a small clump and a valley which formed the inner slope of the bay. Tracked it Aug 2 & th.
