9 P.M. I have moved camp to Slaughter ground. This is rightly called as it seems quite certain that we can never get half what the boys killed because they will be frozen hard before we can ever skin them. It is a shame that such good meat, such magnificent breeds and chums should be left to rot. A few minutes ride from our igloo this afternoon. We were surprised to see 12 large white wolves leaping toward us less than 100 yds away. The dogs wheeled toward them starting them off in the opposite direction. Before we could get our rifles out they were beyond range. Tonight they are here near the igloo. The boys are out trying to get a shot at them.
