Journal Aug15, Lake Peters, Alaska; Another beautiful day. I've left about 0900 for home. Hit a fogbank slated to Cape Simpson and had to set down at Keroavin waiting for the fog to clear at Barrow. Waited about an hour and then went in. Aug15, Barrow, Alaska; As we got off the plane, Ted told us we had an hour before we would leave for the Snare. We rushed around (but the flight was cancelled). I worked on the colony, the rest of the afternoon. An easterly wind was blowing all day. Aug16, Barrow, Alaska; Got out my data sheets to start the colony but Ted told me to get ready to leave for the Snare in 20 minutes. Helped him fuel the float plane. Flight was postponed until later after lunch. Worked on the colony until lunch. Murphy took Gil ... , one of Bollensack's assistants and me in first. I set one line of traps while Gil sampled for insects, Hines, along with Mullen, came in about 45 minutes later. After they left, Hines and I set up camp, then put out the three remaining lines. Started to rain when we were finishing the last line. Plenty of caribou around, counted about 20 already. Raining continually, stopping about 2300.
