Journal Aug8 St. Barrow, Alaska; Hines got in early this morning. Went right to bed. Her and the pilot had to land at Pow A last night due to the fog. I started the colony early that morning. Sullivan checked lines I,II, IX & X by himself. Hines wanted to be awakened when we went to set lines III a,b & IV a,b, but we didn't. He had been up all night so we set them ourselves. Finished the colony that afternoon and helped Sullivan check lines I,II, IX &X. Overcast day but only slightly cool. Aug9. St. Barrow, Alaska; Started the Colony and then got some help from John Hines. This was an exchange basis. He helped me in the morning and then I would help him and Sullivan that afternoon moving the trap stakes on VII & VIII. Moving the stakes about 30ft. to the south put the stakes in much better terrain. That evening we pulled in lines I,II, IX &X. There was some brief showers later this evening. Aug10, St. Barrow, Alaska; Got some help from Sullivan in helping me with the colony this morning. Late Beeper, Sullivan, Hines & S. went out to Central Marsh, John Hines & I to set line I,II, VII & VIII, and Sullivan & Pieper to build enclosures at the fertilizer plot. Finished colony that evening.
