July 31, 1962 St. Barrow;
the lob. Never did see them. Of course, we didn't
go to Wainwright today but maybe tomorrow. Rain a
couple of times today with occasional breezes. Very
nice night, no breeze, most of cloudiness gone.
August 1, 1962, St. Barrow;
Sullivan is supposed to leave for Wainwright, and
I'm going to learn where the lines are and help set
traps. I've left an outline of the things for Mullen,
to be able to keep the sequence of work going. It doesn't
look now, since it is after lunch, that we will be able
to go to Wainwright until at least this evening. I've
already done the temperature fluctuation experiment animals
Dave helped in the colony when we replaced the rotating
breeder with two new (Vaginal open) females. Cool night
but clear. Mullen & Hines went to the Point hunting
ducks. Sullivan & I waited around but no flight.
August 2, 1962, St. Barrow;
I again set up a procedure sheet for Mullen to follow
in case Sullivan and I should go to Wainwright.
I checked the colonies and got a lamp for the "big" colony
including a multiple plug.
We left for Wainwright by 10:15 arriving there at 11:15
Very good flying weather there. Saw [illegible] Carbon &
(Campylobacter) and many dead walrus seals along the
shore.
