July19 (cont')
intervals she would fuddle on her letter either
clearing or just resting. once she did go for water.
She didn't seem disturbed due to my presence
even though she did know I was there. I weighed
the nine pups about an hour after all had been
dropped.
July20, Pt. Barrow, Alaska;
It rained the night of the 19th but had stopped by
early morning. Rain started when we went to check traps
or stopped when we got back. I spot up a Golden Plover
chick after doing the routine work on the sky on the
"back porch" of Aviology. Mullen and John Hines are not
in yet. Mober left with the float plane and will
be back Saturday. Worked on the colony until dinner,
after dinner we collected traps. I finished the colony
right after dinner.
July21, Pt. Barrow, Alaska;
A cool day. Started on the Colony first thing waking
on it until lunch. About 14:00, Sullivan left to set
lines V, VI, VII, VIII in central Marsh. I forgot to tell him
(Sullivan)
that F.A.P. wanted V & VI moved to one side until
today, and now it is too late. We will move them
next time. There were weasel track freshly run across
VII & VIII. We'll have to find out who's been going into the
Marsh recently. Did some more work on the colony
after dinner.
