Journal July 14 (cont') Second time it passed, I waited for it to fly over my head and turned to shoot it going away but I looked directly into the sun. The third time it returned, it was with its mate. This time, I hit it when it was directly overhead. Actually, I could have gotten both if I had not been concentrating so much on one I was a little cautious about shooting twice when I didn't know what they were for sure. Upon closer examination, it was a Red-throated Loon. Hinosis putty up the skin. I finished up the colony that date afternoon & evening. July 15, Pt. Barrow, Alaska; Hinosis Muller left for the Snake River at 0700 via the float plane. I worked some on the colony while Sullivan checked the trap lines. The colony took longer than I expected, due to a lot of weighing and since it was Sunday, I didn't much else after dinner except check traps with Sullivan July 16 Pt. Barrow, Alaska Sullivan checked the traps while I started the work on the colony. Before I actually started, I served the lemmings in Mike's colony, trading him six of mine, which were near in weight (30-40 gms) for 5 pregnant females. I set the females in a deep type of individual cage that Mike had. A new litter was born today, of nine pups, after doing well. After lunch, I borrowed Dick's weasel and went to Voth Area to gather some dry grass
