Journal July 9, 1962, Lake Skravik, Alaska; Clear warm morning, warm enough for the mosquitoes to be out. We censusd the plot, moving quickly through the area due to little bird activity. After lunch, we took the long way to ARE by circling through the marshy areas at the south end of Lake Skravik. Observed flocks of Phalaropus, Sabini's gulls and various numbers of Stellar's Hens, Longtail Gages, Arctic Terns, Snowy Owls & Oldsquaws. Upon reaching ARE, I checked the colony to find Dave still working on it. I finished what was left later that evening. Dr. Schulty and Dr. Connie D....... arrived this day. On the way in, Holmes spotted a lone Caribou to the north of the Sea wall. We couldn't get within 3-4 Hundred yards of it. July 10, 1962, Pt. It ended with just the taking of birds as we found no Lemming all morning. After lunch we tried for some Lemming but finally came back and got John Hino along with Bill Maher to go to the Duck Camp hunting Eider. I rode with Bill Maher arriving after Hino & Mullen had already shot 3 Oldsquaw. Moving back to a dirt bridge SW of the Duck Camp, Dave bagged 2 King Eiders. John Hino had gotten one but it swam into Salt lagoon #1. Before I could work on the colony,
