Stercorarius pomarinus 5 July Barrow, Alaska (cont') the area around it was low and grassy surrounded by small ponds. 6 July Barrow, Alaska a pair were calling loudly in vicinity of western end of Upper Meadow Lake. A short time later, a Snowy Owl flew SE. 19 July Barrow, Alaska A chick located near nest where adult was. Had already been banded by Holmes. This was near lines XI, XII 23 July Barrow, Alaska A pair near 10.0 on line IV are the most excited ones I've seen this spring. Holmes says this is more normal than the ones which are rather lethargic. Holmes also saw 2 chicks in present. 27 July Barrow, Alaska A pair, one with very short rectrices were flying around lines XIII + XIV. Probably a pair observed earlier in this area. 16 Aug Barrow, Alaska One near lines III A/B, hunting. 20 Aug Barrow, Alaska 3 pomarinus, 1 juncilla, flying over the fertilizing plot. 21 Aug Barrow, Alaska An adult in central marsh next to Bead Ridge, north of lines VII + VIII, had caught a lemming and was trying to eat it.
