Stercorarius pomarinus
11 June Barrow, Alaska
One cruising over barrel area adjacent to
fresh water lake road. Two, possibly a pair
on Beach Ridge, usually cruising low for
lemmings.
12 June Barrow, Alaska
One seen circling over Barrel Area in the
morning. A pair are situated in an area
west of trap lines III A, B and patrol the
surrounding area.
13 June Barrow, Alaska
Near Gasline ridge, Steve Logdon & I
watch a pomarine chase a snowy owl (?)
which has invaded its territory. The
chase was in a circle with the owl returning
to its original spot and the chase ending.
14 June Barrow, Alaska
A pair previously observed near lines III A, B,
and another pair near Brent Point. No nests
found.
15 June Wanwright, Alaska
A pair searched the tundra in the immediate
tundra east and north of Liz III.
16 June Barrow, Alaska
One in Barrel Area stopped suddenly in the
air with a backward motion of the wings and
dropped about 10-15 feet to the ground behind
