Erolia alpina June 6, 1962. Voth area, Pt. Barrow, Alaska; a pair seen and then a nest found about 10' west of III A. The stake had to be placed 4' east instead of west because of water on east side. Contained 4 eggs. June 17, 1962 Voth's area, Pt. Barrow; 2 killed about 1550 by Hines and Sullivan. From 2000 to 2200, 4 nests found, each w/ 4 eggs. These 4: 2 are in Voth's area proper and the other 2 are on the other side of the "Little Freeway" across from Voth's area proper. In each instance, Dunlin was quick to leave the nest; only once did we find the nest the first time. The males are still displaying and singing June 28, 1962. Across Voth Creek from Voth Area Proper, Pt. Barrow; a male and a female were copulating. The male was mounted and flapping his wings. The act of mounting lasted about 10 seconds. There was no postcopulatory display. July 4, 1962, Central Marsh, Pt. Barrow; One female killed by Holmes for specimen. July 18, 1962, Voth Area, Pt. Barrow, Alaska; Noticed flock of six around trap lines; two were captured in air traps. July 21, 1962, Beach Ridge, Pt. Barrow, Alaska; a flock of five seen. August 19, 1962, Snow River, Alaska; Only a [illegible] seen by myself, but Airman said he saw more than two. August 24, 1962, Pt. Barrow, Alaska; A few were in association with Sandlamps and Polyps on a small pond halfway to the Point.
