Journal Had been raining from about 1900 - 2100. Only a light rain. Very cold afterward although the sun is shining. Light bird activity. Nothing caught in kill traps or line traps. Kill traps were picked up. Water pools and ditches with water are becoming deeper. Holmes should know! June 16, 1962. Yoth Area, Ft. Bowrow, Alaska. 1900 - Set traps at III A + III B. No shows, only some water in troughs around polygons. There is a dog sniffing around which could affect catches. [illegible]. All day has been clear with temp. starting low in the morning and climbing steadily. Went with mullen earlier about 1430 to check for carcasses and scats around line IX + X that he placed there last summer. Found a few scats and a carcass. June 17, 1962, Ft. Bowrow, Alaska. Clear day, temp. in high fifties. Temp 51 at 1200. Lanning clergy okay. Bill [illegible] back. Went to Yoth Area with Sulliman Hires on collecting trip. They got several birds; red phalaropes, Baird's, Dulin's and longspurs. Activity is better than fair. Some displaying. Area is quite wet but passable. About 1900, went with Holmes to record bird songs at Britton's area. Recorder didn't work. Night is clear with no wind and quite warm at times. Went on to Yoth's Area. Staked out several nests (6) of three different species; Dunlin, Semipalmated and a longspur. Better than average bird activity.
