Too wet, so HEC decided to set I, II and IX, X. We caught 3 Lemmings by Voth Slough, 2's and 1 juv. The males killed the juvenile. Ran short 2 traps on line X. Returned about 2000 to finish it. Very nice night. I almost wanted to stay out and just sit.

HEC, Holmes and I left for Streakrik at 0800. We checked lines I, II and IX, X on the way. The solar eclipse was due for 1000. It was foggy by the gravelly, vision being only about 200 yards. Because of the fog, the light was filtered from the sun to our eyes. We got a good view of about 80-90% covering the sun. Holmes banded some Glaucal chicks in Footprint Lake. After reaching Kruvink and Holmes' plot we encased H's south part recording 3 new nests and some chicks which were banded. After lunch (1330) we encased the north part and then started back. It had started to cool off and a fog could be seen over ARC Inlet. Larking by Wien until 1600. We stopped by Holmes' insect sampling area and Holmes took soil samples. Near lines XI & XII, Cholda found a dead Pomarine Jaeger. We arrived home about 1630. Cholda checked the lines tonight.
