27. Journal 17 July and cleared up. I wrote letters until 1630. I took Childe back to line plot about 2000. Weather changing. Wind is from the ocean and a fog, cutting visibility to 1/4 mi rolled in. Mullen & Logston are scheduled for the Inurn tomorrow morning. Traplines IVA,B will have to come in tomorrow night. 18 July Barrow, Alaska The routine date on the lemmings was finished by 0920, after coffee, S. Holland and I went to the area around 4A C5 to look for lemmings but none were caught. About 1115 we went to the line plot to pick up Hank and bring him in for lunch. The wind from the ocean is still blowing. Almost all the ice is gone from Freshwater Lake. After lunch we did the metabolic cages and set up three new ones taken in from the Village. Mullen & Logston left for the Inurn after lunch. I wrote notes until 1600. After dinner, Hank & I caught in line IVA,B. A Dectoul and Phleome chick were caught. Foggy after 1800. Visibility cut to 1/4 mile. 19 July Barrow, Alaska Colony work was started at 0830 with the use of a new animal scale. Today was windy day and it came in handy. Speeds up activities a lot. Very nice day. Temp in high 40's. Wind from S W is fair. After lunch, metabolic cages were processed. The animal on the special powder diet is hanging on but growing weaker. After coffee, Hank & I left about 1500 to set lines VI, VII and III A,B. We found VI & VII
