22 Journal 8 July Village to bone x-ray taken, this means I won't be able to go to Skroanik with Dick. Everybody very sympathetic but Childs also laughed. At least I got mine during an "athletic" endeavor! 9 July Barrow, Alaska Light sprinkles early this morning, then cold & windy the rest of the day. I helped Holland in the colony for as long as I could be of any real help. I returned to virology and put up a bird. Sausy job. Dick went to Skroanik alone. Childs and Mullen were ready to go to Banks but won't go until tomorrow morning. I went into the village with Riley at 1400. Some Canadians from the Icebreaker, HMS Cornwall came along. X-ray showed only bruised knee. Hood! (finding note) Got back about 1630. Dick did all right at Skroanik but plans to go again day after tomorrow. Clouds rolling in about 2100 and wind still blowing ferociously. 10 July Barrow, Alaska Stayed in bed with heating pad until lunch. Went to Colony after lunch to finish the work with Holland. I weighed in new animals brought by P. Souleik from the village. I also had to weigh guinea pigs that I thought I had marked adequately (several are in one cage) and decide which was which. Childs & Mullen left for Banks Island right after 1200. I inquired once more about a rotary public because the one in the village was on a camping trip.
