Journal 24 june were in bad shape. I asked Mullen about it. He suggested taking weights. After doing so, I notified Mullen and Schultz that these 3 experimental animals were losing 14-17 grams. After lunch, I talked over the use of the metabolic cages. About 1600, Logston and I set lines V4 VI. After dinner, I picked through a sod sample for Dock while doing my washing. Mullen came by and initiated a conversation with Pitelka about his publication that became very interesting. Wrote notes. 25 june Barrow, alaska Steve Holland and I recorded routine data and weights in the lemming colony until noon. Steve Logston brought in a pregnant female which was started on date. I talked to Dr. Schultz about the metabolic cage experiments to be run. Chipped some fresh grass for the pregnant ones and those with litters. Steve and I started modifying the metabolic cages to start the Schultz experiments. Dave brought in 6 new females which were started on grass as these are assumed pregnant. After dinner I picked up lines IV + V while Steve checked IV + VI. Only Longspurs were taken. A heavy fog rolled in over the airport and Barrow main. Mist was heavy over most of the area.
